BNB Chain Announces New Layer 1 Optimized for Autonomous AI Agent Transactions... Mainnet Launch in 2027
BNB Chain is developing a Layer 1 blockchain dedicated to AI agents, featuring ultra-low latency of less than 50ms and a private mempool. Aiming for a 2027 launch, the network is expected to become the core infrastructure for an ecosystem of over 150,000 AI agents.
On July 8, 2026, BNB Chain declared a significant shift in its architectural strategy, announcing plans to develop a dedicated Layer 1 (L1) blockchain optimized for AI agent transactions. Designed to meet the extremely low latency requirements of autonomous AI agents, this new network introduces preconfirmation technology of less than 50ms and a private mempool architecture to address bottlenecks in existing EVM environments, aiming for a mainnet launch in 2027.
This announcement demonstrates that the BNB ecosystem is evolving beyond general-purpose infrastructure into a specialized hardware and software stack for AI agents. The new Layer 1 will function as an expansion of the BNB ecosystem rather than a replacement for existing networks, serving as a dedicated execution engine for AI agents making high-frequency autonomous financial decisions.
AI agents are the core users of future finance, and building a dedicated highway for them is our strategic goal.
Agent transactions refer to a method where AI analyzes real-time data and executes immediate financial transactions without human intervention. As such autonomous activities explode, BNB Chain determined that a new architecture capable of overcoming the limitations of existing Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) environments is essential.
Technical Breakthrough: Sub-50ms Latency and Private Mempool
The core of the new Layer 1 is pre-confirmation technology of less than 50ms. This is significantly faster than current blockchain standards, providing an environment optimized for high-frequency trading strategies of AI agents where outcomes are decided in sub-second moments. This performance improvement is expected to be a decisive competitive advantage in future financial markets where machine-to-machine transactions predominate.
- Implementation of ultra-low latency pre-confirmation speeds of less than 50ms
- MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) defense through the removal of public mempools
- Construction of a high-performance execution environment dedicated to AI agents
- Integration of keyless wallet infrastructure for autonomous transaction processing
Notably, the removal of public mempools and the introduction of a private mempool architecture stands out. This acts as a powerful defense mechanism protecting AI agent strategies from Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) and front-running attacks. Since there is no public transaction queue, the agent's intentions are not exposed, allowing for more secure transaction execution.
According to the development roadmap, BNB Chain plans to launch the testnet by the end of 2026. This period will be a critical time for developers to migrate and optimize existing agent tools for the new network. Following stability verification, full-scale mainnet operations are expected to begin in 2027.
Ecosystem Expansion Based on BNB Agent Studio
This Layer 1 announcement is an extension of the 'BNB Agent Studio' launched on July 1, 2026. Agent Studio has already laid the foundation for the software layer by providing modular standard SDKs for identity, commerce, payments, memory, and more. Through this SDK, developers can build agents that maintain a learned state and operate continuously.
The growth of AI agents within the BNB Chain ecosystem is already being proven by visible figures. As of April 2026, the number of on-chain AI agents surpassed 150,000, which is an approximately 43,750% increase compared to January of the same year. This explosive growth supports the fact that building a dedicated Layer 1 is a strategy based on actual demand rather than a mere technical experiment.
Machine-to-Machine Payment Infrastructure and Competitive Landscape
In terms of infrastructure, the x402 protocol and Agentic Wallet play a key role. The x402 protocol directly embeds stablecoin payments into HTTP requests, enabling immediate settlement per API call. Additionally, the keyless structure of the Agentic Wallet provides an environment where agents can autonomously process transactions without manual human signing.
BNB Chain is taking a different path from Bittensor, which focuses on intelligence markets, or Fetch.ai, which aims for a federation of autonomous agents. BNB aims to become an execution hub where agents operate in conjunction with actual liquidity by focusing on the "transaction and execution" of agents themselves. This strategy places more weight on financial practicality than on AI technology itself.
Currently, BNB Chain is encouraging next-generation developers through a $36,000 hackathon. This ecosystem, built through partnerships with CoinMarketCap and Trust Wallet, is expected to provide a highly complete AI financial environment by the time of the mainnet launch in 2027. Developers can participate in earnest starting from the testnet stage to prepare for a new financial paradigm.
