SAVE THE BLIND
A creator working with strong symbols and narrative
Q: Please explain the project you are currently working on!
A: The project grew out of Blindness, the novel and film, which made me think again about what it really means to see the world with our own eyes. That idea naturally connected with NFTs. The core world of the collection is built around two forms: an ART version that embodies the blind, and a PFP version with eyes that can save them. 'Save The Blind' literally means 'save the blind,' and I use it both as my artist name and the name of the project. In the ART version, the figures have no eyes, showing a world where the blind are suffering. The PFP version, on the other hand, carries the eyes that can rescue them. Because one artist alone cannot save countless blind figures, I build the world together with holders who join the 'STB Legion' through the PFP works. The blind appear everywhere in this universe, from the city's underworld and lakes to flower beds, mountains, and the sky, and rescuing them is the first principle of the project. I also leave the final number of NFTs open, because I want SaveTheBlind to keep growing with the ideas and participation of its holders.
Q: I'm curious about how you started your artistic activities.
A: After purchasing an iPad, I started drawing many digital paintings, and I wanted to share my drawings with many people.
Q: What is the story of your first NFT sale?
A: Currently, the proportion of PFP works is high, but I started my activities as an artist with the ART version where the eyes are covered. Thankfully, it was sold on the very day I uploaded the work. I wanted to keep repaying that gratitude! I think I focused on my artistic activities without resting.
Q: You are forming a community with the keyword 'Legion' in the project. What was the motivation for starting the community?
A: As I started the PFP project, the number of holders began to increase steadily. I thought it was very important to communicate with the holders!
Q: Any advice for artists who have difficulty forming a community?
A: I announced the opening of an open community on Twitter and promoted it so that not only holders but also non-holders, artists, and anyone interested in the STB project could join. It is true that for individual artists like me, forming a community significantly reduces the time available to focus on work. However, I think communication with holders is also very important. In fact, many people are worried about creating a community. Still, I am sure that if you communicate with people who buy and like your work, your mind will change!
Q: What is the most important thing you consider when you make or look at a work?
A: I am creating stories by putting various visual elements into the work. I think the interpretation of a work can be different for each person who views it. When I ask the holders, they actually give various interpretations even when looking at the same work.
Q: It seems like there is quality control according to rarity in the PFP project! I'm curious about the details.
A: It is also introduced on the website. For 'Normal,' an element is added to the left shoulder of the STB; for 'Rare,' both shoulders; for 'Super Rare,' many details are added; and for 'Unique,' details beyond Super Rare plus a background are added. Attribute points are marked for each grade, and they are summed up when organizing the STB Legion holders to provide goods and benefits. For the 'Legendary' grade, we produce custom STB PFPs upon purchase, and the Legendary grade is currently being prepared.
Q: Is there a future direction for the project?
A: The STB project is a project created together by communicating with holders, and all holders are members and owners of the STB project. The big goal is to create the Save The Blind brand, but I think there is still a long way to go! I will continue to work hard and consistently.
Q: A word to the holders, please. :)
A: Thank you so much for always giving me courage and cheering me on when I'm having a hard time! You are also helping a lot in community management. I'm always grateful, and I hope we can continue to have fun making the STB project while communicating a lot in the future. I love you~^^
Community is often said to be central to the NFT market. Experiencing SaveTheBlind's community firsthand, I could see members with different strengths enjoying the IP and organically building a culture of their own.
